How Weather Affects Bouncy Castle Hire

The British weather is famously unpredictable. Sunshine can quickly turn to showers, and calm days can become windy in an instant. At AW Inflatables, safety is always our priority, and weather conditions play a vital role in the safe use of inflatables.

This guide explains how different weather conditions — hot, wet, and windy — can affect your hire, and what precautions we take to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.

Bouncy Castles in Hot Weather ☀️

Bouncy castles are safe to use during warm weather. Continuous airflow from the blower helps keep the inflatable structure ventilated. However, on particularly hot days, surfaces exposed to direct sunlight can become very warm to the touch.

Precautions for Hot Weather:

Socks should be worn – Protects feet from heated surfaces and reduces friction burns.
Use sun protection – Many castles include sunshades, but sunscreen is still advised.
Stay hydrated – Regular breaks and water are essential.

👉 If conditions become uncomfortably hot, we recommend considering our indoor soft play hire as a cooler alternative.

Bouncy Castles in Rain 🌧️

Most of our inflatables include built-in rain covers, making them suitable for use in light showers. However, in heavier rainfall, inflatables can become slippery and unsafe.

Precautions for Wet Weather:

Pause use during heavy rain – Stop bouncing if conditions worsen.
Dry surfaces before resuming – Use towels to remove excess water.
Indoor alternatives – Our soft play packages and indoor inflatables are ideal if outdoor weather is unsuitable.

⚠️ Important: Soft play must not be used outdoors in any rain. It is designed for indoor use only.

Bouncy Castles in Windy Conditions 💨

Wind is the most critical weather factor for inflatable safety. According to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), inflatables must not be used in winds (including gusts) exceeding 24mph.

Our Approach to Windy Weather:

Forecast monitoring – We check local forecasts in advance of your booking.
Strict compliance – If winds are above safe levels, we will not set up the inflatable.
Safety-first cancellations – You’ll be notified at the earliest opportunity if conditions are unsafe.
